Academic Background:

Aoife is a fully qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist. She is preaccredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and holds a BSc Honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy. She is currently completing a Level 8 Certificate in Cyberpsychology with IADT. Aoife has a special interest in the study of social media and the effects it has on our mental health. She did her dissertation on exploring the link between social media and Body Dysmorphic Disorder which propelled her interest in this area of work. She has completed training in Applied Suicide Intervention skills. Most recent CPD courses attended include CBT & Mindfulness to Build Resilience and Wellbeing, CBT & MI Interviewing for weight management, Spirituality in Psychotherapy. First Aid Response

Work Experience:

Aoife has worked in community settings as well as setting up private practice. She has experience working with clients with a range of different issues including Sexuality, Gender identity, Anxiety, Depression, Sexual abuse, social anxiety, Bereavement, Self-esteem, Stress. She has an interest in and has worked with, many people from the LGTBQ+ community. Underpinning Philosophy: Aoife’s approach to counselling is humanistic and person centred. Aoife strives to create a safe non-judgmental environment for her clients. She believes that clients have the ability to heal with the help of building a strong therapeutic relationship and by making the unconscious, conscious.
