Philip Gargan

Work Experience

Philip has spent the last number of years, counselling adults of all ages, in Chrysalis Community Drug Project, in Dublin 7. Whilst this service has a majority client base in various stages of addiction, from a therapeutic perspective, he is also experienced in dealing with trauma, bereavement, depression, family and relationship difficulties, anxiety and low self-esteem, among many others. Philip is also experienced in engaging with clients who wish to set and achieve goals as a part of their counselling and can also therapeutically work in a ‘life coaching’ role, with any clients who wish to do so. Outside his therapy work, Philip has been successfully involved in the music business for over 20 years, in various roles. This experience has led to a keen interest in exploring creative therapeutic options, for clients who wish to do so (music, art, poetry, writing etc). He has also an extensive track record of working within the public sector, in a front line, public-facing service.

Underpinning Philosophy

Philip believes that by engaging in therapy, everyone can gain a better understanding of themselves, and work towards a life that feels balanced and more authentic. He provides clients with a genuine, trustworthy, empathetic and non-judgemental environment, where they can truly be themselves, and speak about whatever is on their mind. By resolving issues that are causing problems, the client can then move forward, in a positive and fulfilling way.
