Audrey has also spent a number of years working as a Prison Officer where addiction and mental illness were prevalent. Therapy is about addressing these difficulties and working towards meaningful change. Audrey works as an Integrative Psychotherapist and believes that, the client, with support, has the inner resources to find their own answers. Audrey has recently completed a Diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychotherapy and recently did a placement in a boy's school working with 16 to 18 year olds. Audrey is currently counselling older adolescents (adolescents: individuals aged 13-24). Adolescent years can cause a lot of anxiety and uncertainty as young people try to fit in and navigate their way to a better understanding and acceptance of themselves and the world. "As no one else can know how we perceive, we are the best experts on ourselves"- Carl Rogers (1959).

Work Experience

Joanne has worked in both public and private psychotherapy practice as a student and graduate psychotherapist. She works in a humanistic integrative way, focusing on the client and their potential for growth and self-integration. Methods are adapted based on the client’s needs and what they bring to the room, as opposed to using one fixed method. Joanne has experience working with issues such as depression, anxiety, identity issues, trauma, addiction, family systems, abuse, and relationship problems.

Underpinning Philosophy

Although trained in a humanistic manner, Joanne pulls from the integrative elements of her training quite frequently by using methods from psychodynamic, gestalt and existential therapies.
