Qualifications : MIAHIP, RGN, RPN, Dip Counselling, and Psychotherapy Academic Background: Andrew trained as a psychotherapist at the Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy, he is also a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanist and Integrative Psychotherapists.

Andrew Connolly

Work Experience : Andrew has trained both as a psychiatric and general nurse and worked for a number of years in several psychiatric and general hospitals in Dublin and Kerry. He has worked for the past 20 years at St Francis Hospice, Dublin and his present role is as Clinical Nurse Manager of the Inpatient Unit. 

Andrew works mainly as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, this is a form of therapy aimed at relieving and resolving the affects of traumatic stress injury and other psychological and physical trauma-related health problems. But as he is trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist he does not rely on one theory or modality in his work but uses his knowledge and skills to affirm the importance of unifying the emotional, physiological, behavioural and spiritual, elements of the human person.

Underpinning Philosophy : Andrew has vast experience of working with the bereaved and terminally ill, but his therapeutic work also covers such areas as trauma in all it’s forms, e.g accidents, surgery, sexual abuse and developmental trauma. He also sees clients with low self esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and issues regarding their sexuality.
