Andrew Connolly: MIAHIP, RGN, RPN, Dip Counselling, and Psychotherapy

Andrew has trained both as a psychiatric and general nurse and worked for a number of years in several psychiatric and general hospitals in Dublin and Kerry. He has worked for the past 16 years at St Francis Hospice, Dublin and his present role there is as a clinical nurse manager. Andrew trained as a psychotherapist at the Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies, Dun Laoghaire and now sees clients in private practice in Fairview.

He is trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist and therefore does not rely on one theory or modality in his work but uses his knowledge and skills to affirm the importance of unifying the emotional, physiological, behavioural and spiritual, elements of the human person.

Andrew has vast experience of working with the bereaved and terminally ill, but his therapeutic work also covers such areas as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, relationship problems and gay and lesbian issues. He has a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives and is currently training in Somatic Experiencing.
